Birds of Paradise

This application based project was inspired by tropical birds and specifically created for the Lady Dior bag. I used a maximalist approach by using many different colors without creating an end product too close to the typical rainbow palette. I created interesting and new plaids using gradients and a twill block pattern which I planned out using grid paper and colored markers.

Water and Ice

This project focused on the interaction between 2 elements, water and ice. Inspiration largely came from icebergs, snow, and ocean. Each 8x8 woven includes different techniques such as leno lace and double weave. I explored different materials such as cellophane, monofilament, ice dyed yarn.

Eco Black

Focusing on upcoming trends of all black, neutral color palettes and sustainability, I created a collection of 8x8 wovens to highlight black, and its complimenting shades. These samples include unconventional materials such as cording, plastic, tulle, and wool hand dyed with logwood. To in order to display a cohesive collection of all black wovens without getting too repetitive, patterns such as waffle weave, twill, and double weave block were used. There was also an emphasis on texture to add interest within the color restraints.

Dessert Before Dinner

This 24'' x 90'' table runner was inspired by gathering with friends and family for some sweets. As a kid, my grandparents always had Neapolitan ice cream in their freezer and every time I have it, it makes me remember the hot summer days from my childhood. I used a striped warp to create a plaid for the majority of the table runner and used a diamond pattern in sections to add interest and lay perfectly on a table.
