Ally LaRocca is a textile artist based in Athens, Ga.

Her love for textiles sparked as a young girl who adored dressing up and drawing fashion sketches in her notebook. She carried that enthusiasm to college where she earned a BFA in Textile Design from the University of Georgia, Lamar Dodd School of Art. Here, Ally studied materiality and found an interest in color interaction and texture through material manipulation. Her practice includes weaving, screen printing, knitting, and sewing. She spends most of her free time wandering the North Georgia mountains. Ally is most inspired by the hikes she takes and uses these adventures to make work focused on personal experience and the connection between nature and soul.
